Making History with John Patitucci
Or, how the Music & Meaning podcast theme became a winsome collab
Happy release Friday. Haven’t done a music release in a bit. Feels good. Another history-making day. And I mean that seriously. Everyone, everywhere is a history maker. We all contribute to the story of the cosmos. No one knows this better than my duet partner on “Sound of the Room,” legendary bassist and composer, John Patitucci.
I have so much respect for John as a musician and just a good human in general. It’s an honor to share this duet with him. I wrote it last Fall as the theme for the CT Media podcast, Music & Meaning. You only get to hear a small portion of it each episode. In actuality, John plays both upright and electric basses on the composition. Toward the end of the recording we playfully engage in the time-honored jazz tradition of “trading fours.”
John is involved in so many wonderful projects—including education. Please avail yourself of his huge, beautiful world, easily accessed at the official website. I especially like John’s trio with drummer Brian Blade and saxophonist Chris Potter.

Additionally, here’s a Spotify playlist of our collaborations to date. Have a great weekend. Watch for the upcoming MUSIC & MEANING podcast, this coming Tuesday, May 21st featuring Integrity Music executives Mark Nicholas and Gilbert Nanlohy, along with very special guest, Nigerian singer and songwriter, SINACH, composer of the worldwide modern worship song, Way Maker. Peace and love to all.
