Parnassus Books, Nashville TN Book Launch, March 12, 2024
Hello friends,
Welcome! I've been writing here at Substack for a while and many of you have been reading and participating. Today marks the day when ALL active email subscribers have been transferred and are receiving the newsletter for the first time via Substack. Active means you opened up an email or clicked on a link in the last six months. (See more below about our new email policy). And make sure you keep reading to find out about Trinity Forum this Friday at 1:30PM EST!
Last week was SO rewarding! Thank you to everyone who purchased our new book, Why Everything That Doesn't Matter, Matters So Much. Andi and I appreciate all of the industrious folks who took pics holding the book and posted on social media with a kind word or two. And thanks Don, for the pano pic above.
"Do yourself a favor and order this incredibly thoughtful and wise book by Charlie & Andi. Every page is a feast."— Mike C.
"It’s so good! I’m really enjoying it! Everyone go get a copy!" — Michelle R.
"I’ve just got the book on Audible & look forward to tuning in here in Northern Ireland!" — Sharon
Your posts of encouragement and dare I say, gentle promotion, are inspiring and so very helpful. Thank you! And Parnassus . . . oh man, the love thermometer at the book launch event was bursting. Couldn't have gone better. Nashville, thanks for the all support and especially Art House Nashville folks—and the winsome, Aussie-voiced Nate Tasker as host didn't hurt! We even had some dear friends that flew in from Seattle. Amazing!
Important news for this week . . .
Andi and I will be guests on The Trinity Forum this coming Friday, March 22nd. We are very honored and excited to join Cherie Harder for this episode titled, "What Really Matters." Past guests include Philip Yancey, Tish Harrison Warren, David Brooks, Angel Adams Parham, and Kate Bowler—good company!
As per the TTF newsletter:
We invite you to join us for an Online Conversation with Charlie Peacock and Andi Ashworth on Friday, March 22 at 1:30 p.m. ET, to explore how we can become forces of healing in a hurting world.
It is FREE and EVERYONE is invited to participate, including submitting questions. Registration is required, HERE.
Thank you to our sponsors, Scott and Cindy Anderson, and to our co-hosts, Hearts & Minds and The Rabbit Room, for their support of this event!
Music & Meaning . . .
Listen to the current episode of Music & Meaning, Monkeys At The Zoo: Metaphors, Methods, and Possible Dreams. This time out, I answer several questions from listeners around the globe, including:
What's the story behind the songs, "Fine Way to Live Your Life" and "Monkeys At The Zoo?" How do you pick a cover song to sing? Please unpack the art of songwriting for us, will you? Tell us how you got started and were you ever really a punk rocker? And finally, how do you keep pursuing your dreams even when they seem so far off, misunderstood or unattainable.
If you are a Facebook person, the big news this week is that I am no longer at facebook.com/charliepeacockartistproducer. Nope, that URL is kaput! Follow now at: https://facebook.com/charliepeacockofficial
Art House North Book Club: St. Paul, MN
In Person and Online . . .
Why Everything That Doesn’t Matter, Matters So Much- the Book Club! The story and foundational ideas for Art House were born from the hearts of these two people, Charlie Peacock and Andi Ashworth and we are offering TWO book clubs to read and discuss the artist’s role in the world, gathering and hospitality, caring for place and using it well, being a light in the city, and more.
Join Sara Groves for her virtual Patreon book club Monday evenings in April. Click link and visit Pateon page. We will also be holding an in-person group at AHN on the following Tuesdays: April 2, April 16, April 30 and May 7. The in-person group is limited to 10 participants.
Book of the Week: Land of My Sojourn: The Landscape of Faith Lost and Found by Mike Cosper. I read it, loved it, felt it deep in my bones.
Song of the Week: "Desert" by Candace Coker
Discover a New CP Song: "Two We Will One Day Meet" by Charlie Peacock feat. the Nashville Recording Orchestra.
A final note on email policy and social media . . .
It is my hope (and likely yours too) to have a clean email list with only folks who want to be on it and regularly avail themselves of the content. Unless you opt-out now, all the emails on the list will stay and be re-evaluated at the end of the year (as to whether there's been any engagement).
The ultimate goal for this year is to spend much less time on Instagram and Facebook and direct all communication and news from this Substack. CharliePeacock.com will be the one-stop place for bio, photos, media links, discography, and more. I have a team that's beginning the process of reinventing the website. In short, everything you need to stay up on what's happening with music, books, the podcast, videos, art and more will be either here at Substack or at CharliePeacock.com. Please bookmark both. Anything that happens on social media will only be a repeat of what is already included at the aforementioned sites. Thanks. Any questions, holler at charliepeacockmusic@icloud.com
Blessed to hear from you, CP! I am hoping to enjoy more from you. KA Ward
Donna and I are loving your book. Actually, I am devouring it, taking big gulps, while Donna is taking it more slowly and carefully, like sips of fine wine. Of course, I wish I had had this book at the beginning of my creative life, but instead, our paths seem to have run somewhat parallel, finding many answers the hard way, as is often the case. But would we really change things if we could? I wonder...
