Brilliantly written. I grew up in Nor Cal. Lake Almanor was where I spent my formative years. We used to float the river outside of Chico every 4th of July.

Grace is exactly like what penned so magically. A call to turn and return

Thank you for your encouragement. I know all of that area very well. My parents used to have a place at Lake Almanor, but it was Butte Meadows back down the hill a bit that I spent my youth fishing and exploring. My dad graduated from Chico State. Years ago, I played a club in Chico called Cabo’s. Peace to you.

I remember first hearing you from an anti - drug commercial on KOVR(?) TV 😂. It was in 1985. I remember they also played “Lie Down in the Grass.” I connected the dots later that fall when a friend introduced me to the 77’s.

Yes...good to read and ponder today. Whales and pigs are our teachers, as are musicians and engineers and stars and all the rest. I didn't know the story about the whale (born in 1985, as I was!) nor about the slightly sordid thoughts on pigs. I still love bacon.

This has nothing to do with Humphrey that I can link. So I will just go with it. Yoshi's a fellow UofTN alum, now has a bar in Tokyo. Guess who's song he chose for this post?https://www.instagram.com/reels/audio/1066156531784169?igsh=MWNmcnZzeGQ5Znd0Yg==

Dern. I’m not on IG anymore and it won’t let me access it. But I’m guessing the song in question is one I wrote or recorded? Those songs that Reels makes avail get around!

Yes, Forever Love with Lillee. First time I'd heard it really liked it.

Slow groove vibe, yes, I remember.

Great story… I thought u needed a boat to stripper fish.. they are prehistoric looking creatures. A face only a Mother can love!!! So optimism still reigns on the banks of the Sacramento River, or at least hope.

For now… I will hope that a pig while we are not looking decides to lie on its back in the dark of night to catch the brilliance of the night sky, stars and satellites as the sweet fragrance of ripened peaches drift overhead. Just like we did as kids. Great story Chas!!!

Thank you dear friend. Yes, we always had a boat, except on a few occasions. You have to move around and find out where the run is at the moment in the river. They sort of batch up and you wanna find a batch of stripers swimming together! BTW, we used to see Jo’s uncle Roger Tokunaga out on the Feather and Sacramento often. From the time I was a little boy I was taught that he was one of the best fisherman on the rivers for stripers and salmon. Also, I love your vision for a healthier life for the average pig. Well suggested. Grateful for “like we did as kids.” As always, missing you. Love and peace.

I remember this story from your book. I have Bernie Krause's 'Gorillas in the Mix' album. It was a family favorite for years, and so unique. Every sound on it is from nature, and I highly recommend it.

Of course you have a Bernie Krause album! Love it. I did work with Bernie once. Not on music. I hired him to do a presentation to the Art Directors Association in Sacramento. Be well, stay well!
