Variation Upon Variation
I Got the Cry Baby Bottle Blues Again (Key of F)
It’s been two weeks since my last post. I’ve been down for the count with the winter crud blues. Maybe it’s age, but all viruses/infections have begun to feel the same. Andi asks and I respond, “Well, it’s sort of flu-like, achy legs, runny nose, cough, sore throat, headache, and then it begins to morph into variation upon variation that would give Bach the proverbial run for the money he didn’t make.”
I’ve purposed to pause my recovery for fifteen minutes and drop you this note for one or more reasons. First, I know I said I’d have art for the holiday gift-giving as I did last year. Not gonna happen. I have tons o’ art, just zero energy to prepare it and ship it. My apologies.
Maybe let’s have a Valentine Art Show? Spring Fling?
Until then here’s two gift items. Both our books are part of holiday sales events most everywhere—sometimes bundled together. Click images for one option.
I leave you with some video and music to take you into, and through, what will likely be a very cold weekend for many Americans. Peace and love to all. Stay warm.
NBC Bay Area: Reporter Joe Rosato Jr. has the story of some of Charlie Peacock’s lost recordings and how they’re now coming to light.
People to watch for in the Skin and Wind video: James Baldwin, William Buckley, Pablo Picasso, Jenner progeny, Thomas Merton, Ruby Amanfu, Marvin Williamson (my maternal grandfather), Christian Wiman & Marylynne Robinson, Jack Kerouac, Jerry McPherson, and Malala Yousafzai.

I am deep into your book, and it is highly informative for me. Although I do not have the same contacts, mostly, I can relate and am aware of most of what you are writing about. It has been a great read for me on many levels. I am sorry you are not feeling well. By the way, I can also identify with getting old.
Such a great look back in time to your early years in California and just a hint of your amazing musical accomplishments and contributions! I always knew you were cool, Cousin Chuck!
