Hello friends, I’ve just been alerted by the Tennessee State Museum that they have canceled my interview tomorrow, Saturday, June 14th (10:30-11:30). I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause those planning to attend. I did hear from a few of you coming from out of town and hope you see this notice in time!
Like many cities across the nation, Nashville is preparing for thousands of people gathering to protest tomorrow at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park from 10AM to NOON (the site of the TN Museum). Hence, the event cancellation.
Perhaps I will see you next Wednesday, June 18th at the concert and gathering for Global Health (which is, gratefully and sadly SOLD OUT).
If you’re not able to attend, please catch me and my colleague Jennifer E. Dyer, PhD on The Strategerist Podcast. Everything we will say at the event is covered here. Click below for multiple streaming options.
Thanks for playing along with this week’s “clear the closets” NML Journal offer. We still have a handful left. As I wrote earlier:
If you’d like one, I will have one sent for the price of one grandchild packing it up and the U.S. Postal service shipping. How does $20 sound? 48 continuous States only. Send a grandchild to college. Email your land address and order to charliepeacockmusic@icloud.com and we’ll send info on how to pay.
Since my promotional event is canceled I’ll allow myself a little overt “price and positioning” here today. Amazon has the memoir available this week at a deep discount. And, they also have a great Twofer offer combining Roots & Rhythm with Why Everything That Doesn’t Matter, Matters So Much. It will be listed at the link.
Please have a safe and restful weekend friends. Peace to all.
Chris Willman in Variety
"The absorbing and exquisitely written Roots and Rhythm: A Life in Music . . . a memoir that will satisfy those looking for a how-the-sausage-gets-made exploration of the record business, and those looking for broader-based insights on life’s big picture."
No Depression
"Roots & Rhythm introduces Charlie Peacock and his life and work to a broader audience, and the memoir possesses a rare quality for a music memoir: it has a high literary quality to it that’s at once engaging and revealing.”
“What makes a great memoir is not just stories from a person’s life, but how those stories are told. Charlie Peacock’s fluid, free-form narrative is infused with earnestness, poetic style and heart. Most rewardingly, it reveals how his relationships, faith, and philosophical ideas have fundamentally shaped his unique and fascinating life in popular music.”
—Scott Derrickson, director, producer, and screenwriter (Doctor Strange, The Day the Earth Stood Still, and the Snowpiercer series)
Sorry your interview event was cancelled. Glad they warned you ahead of time!
