I am deep into your book, and it is highly informative for me. Although I do not have the same contacts, mostly, I can relate and am aware of most of what you are writing about. It has been a great read for me on many levels. I am sorry you are not feeling well. By the way, I can also identify with getting old.
Such a great look back in time to your early years in California and just a hint of your amazing musical accomplishments and contributions! I always knew you were cool, Cousin Chuck!
I'm just in love with the notion that while I offer well strung together words on my Substack, you offer music AND words. What a wonderful gift. Thank you for all the links to your music. It's the audible feast of my holidays.
Thank you Stephanie for your encouragement! You keep up the good work too. I'm going to see if I can find something to watch and fall asleep to! Peace to you and yours.
Watch the Paul Anka documentary on HBO. The guy wrote over 900 songs, recorded by the greats and managed to be relevant for a lifetime. I found it to be delightful! Maybe you've already seen it. (See you at Pape Commons Christmas Zoom -- we share a literary agent.)
It's a true hero's story. Started out as a teen heart-throb in the 1950's and taught himself a lot about songwriting-- then wrote "I Did It My Way," sometime in his late 40's (if I'm remembering right). He was one of the real ones -- he was in it for the love of the music and nothing else. I hope you enjoy it. I love a good hero adventure.

Stephanie - Thanks for the recommendation about the Paul Anka doc. I was hesitant to watch it, but now I will!
