As I've told you before, "Counting the Cost" sort of accidentally became THE bedtime lullaby for my 6 kids, starting some 31 years ago. How? I remember one particularly difficult night trying to calm my first born fruitlessly. The standards weren't working - I had to try something different! CtC had always been a favorite of mine, so I just started singing it a cappella. Almost instantly, my little girl Mamie was calmed. And the rest is history. Now Mamie's little children, my grandkids, allow me to keep the tradition going.
I'm so glad to know what I thought was an obscure little song of yours means so much to you as well. Your article was a wonderful read that I sent to my now-grown kids. Love love love the remake BTW. It's a cup of water offered In the name of our Lord.
Brent, sorry for the tardy response. Been in medical world for a few days. Didn’t want to miss the chance to say thanks! Love that our families have been integrated through music and Yeshua all these years! Peace and love to all—still counting—just passing the burden to the one who can carry with great strength and lightness of being.
Man, I needed this today. I was just thinking this morning that I should reach out, because I haven't heard from you and you haven't heard from me in awhile. I've been writing this post where I'm comparing catastrophizing (a.k.a. hypervigilance) with a life where we expect eucatastrophe. Look for that soon, but know that your words hit the spot today. Knowledge of the "what" to do doesn't seem to overcome the rewired hypervigilant brain. But, as I know you know, it's more about the "when" and "with whom" as we learn to let the "how" happen, all of which flies in the face of our self-help, island-hopping, isolationist culture.
Yes, in fact, I heard your voice on a cassette tape a couple weeks ago when you came over to NIgel's studio in Leatherhead. That was a treat. Lots of love and due thanks for the good memories. Peace to you and yours.

Whew, this is so good. It is such a gift to name things. Thank you, Charlie.
Thank you for the encouragement dear friend. Peace to you and yours.

So glad it popped for you! As did your last post for me! I hope traveling is going well (or did go well). I will circle back to you via email. Peace.
I remember way back when I was photographing you for New Sound and hearing this song for the first time. I still like it!
Thank you Dorothy! Loved those early New Sound days. Peace to you.
Such a great version of this song. I think we need more of these!
Thank you Jon. There's likely to be more of this coming. Stay tuned!
I love this song! Brings back some great memories. 😊
