When I was a young youth pastor dude in the 1980's I wore a big man's hat with my teen-aged protégés. I almost threw it all away in the 90's but after almost 4 decades of ministry, my life, love and almost every kind of uh-oh here I am still, of fan of a dude that has written part of the sound track of my life. Thanks Charlie, someday we'll meet and I can tell you in person the impact your music has had on my life. This new one is really something!
Wow, that is a travelogue I can relate to. Thank you for posting and for the encouragement re: new record. It's an honor to part of someone's life soundtrack. Thank you. I've already starting sharing this with others here, so one for you too: https://www.amazon.com/Roots-Rhythm-Music-Charlie-Peacock/dp/0802884377
Upon a few more listens, this is just not another great Charlie Peacock album. This album is something different. Special. Transcendent. Lyrics are raw and powerful in an evocative way. I encourage you to spend some reflective time with one. There is something different going on here. Something inexplicably bigger than just a collection of songs. I have always felt that the Bible is a library, rather than a set of stories. Here too is a library of sorts. Thank you Charlie Peacock.
Enjoyed the single... like Paul Simon for turtle lovers and Chinese food lovers, and now that makes me want some Chinese food... but more buffet style, not take out. But jokes aside, great playful writing :)
My copy of Every Kind of Uh-Oh showed up last Friday and I had to take Lie Down in the Grass off the turn table to play it :) In a world full of songs just floating in and out of one's consciousness on a Spotify playlist, I knew this gift deserved the full old school treatment! I sat down on the couch with the lyrics in my lap and enjoyed the journey! When the last note faded and the needle returned to its resting place, I was already thinking about the next time I could carve out time to listen through with you. Thank you for sharing your gift, your faith and your stories!
It’s 4:38 a.m., and I just finished listening to Side One of your new record. I've been playing it almost every morning (alternating between it and “West Coast Diaries”—I love the conversation and echoing between the two). I have Parkinson's….and the music has been carrying me through this month of appointments as I prep for DBS brain surgery later this fall, and continue to adjust to the limitations and adjustments that come with a progressive disease. Much gratitude and peace to you on your journey.
Tim, thank you for this note. You have your own unique mindfulness/wellness program going! I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis, Tim, but hope and pray the DBS is effective—yet another piece of your program. And thank you for your benediction—the same to you. After surgery, come back around here or via direct email (at website) and let me know how the DBS is working. Peace.
When I listened to and was captivated by everything that's on my mind, so I resonate with this work. The music is beautiful and imaginative as are the lyrics. I wonder Charlie, will you be doing any interviews as when you did when you put out everything that's on my mind. I remember how you gave some background and insight as to what each song was about on that project. I can make out principles and themes from some of these lyrics, but would love to have a more complete understanding of your thoughts, and inspiration for each track... make sense? TY!
Norm, I am doing interviews at present. Mostly podcasts and one TV one coming up. Each of these have some stories about the music and lyrics. However, it sounds like you are looking for a little more in depth analysis. Do I have you right? If so, perhaps I can tackle some of that in the coming days here on Substack. Thank you for asking — and listening!
Hi Charlie, business has captured me so I could not reply till now; have any of the interviews ben done so I can listen and see if my questions have been answered?
I will definitely get your new book preordered. Honestly I am so impressed with amount of work you are producing considering your in chronic pain. Quite the testimony.
Yes, based on our last book, they didn't upload the Audible version until about a month or less from the release date. I begin recording it next week. Thanks for asking! You can trust it will be avail though.
I have recommended your latest album to many non-Christian friends, and you would be amazed at the overwhelmingly positive reaction from literally everyone. To the person. I keep hearing: "Who the heck is this guy? His music strikes something in my soul. I have not experienced this before."
I will say it again--this thing is something different. Not just some great music, but something transformative for the soul.
James, thank you for your encouragement. I do believe that music can be embued with Spiritual, transformative goodness. If this is true of the music on EVERY KIND OF UH-OH, nothing would please me more. Thank you for for sharing with your friends. Peace.
Such a great album.
Thank you Denise! Even I can hear that it just might be my most listenable album ever! Enjoy.
Thought I should just go ahead and add this since I gave it to Ken below. Will properly introduce it in another post soon. https://www.amazon.com/Roots-Rhythm-Music-Charlie-Peacock/dp/0802884377

Love the album. Really solid work. When can we pre-order the new book? Or perhaps it's less about when and more about how. ;-)

But no Audible version. Is that coming?
Thanks
